Handcraft Days

About the program

HANDCRAFT DAYS is a three-day professional and educational event that has been held annually since 2017, taking place in September. The event is designed to promote traditional handicrafts, bring heritage into focus, and view it in a new, contemporary context, including its interpretation.

The theme changes each year, and the program is structured with workshops, expert lectures, and small thematic exhibitions. The focus is on collaboration with the community, with local artisans leading the workshops. So far, workshops have included willow basket weaving, ceramics, macrame, jewelry making, glass and wood crafts, weaving, knitting, embroidery, and crocheting. The goal is also to feature artisans from other parts of Croatia, who join as guest workshop leaders, showcasing crafts such as making corn husk bags and the traditional Lepoglava lace with bobbins. The last two events have taken on an international character, with Atelier 61 from Novi Sad demonstrating tapestry-making, and fashion designer Ana Cajhen from Slovenia presenting a fashion show of straw handbags.

If you are interested in collaborating on the event, please contact the organizers.
