Night of Museums 2025
The visibility of museums today is extremely important, especially in the era of high technology and digital possibilities that push the boundaries of traditional museums. Equally important is everything that happens "behind the scenes" of museums—what is not visible to visitors, but which contributes greatly and significantly to the final presentation of the museum. The Ethnographic Museum of Istria – Museo etnografico dell'Istria and the Museum of the City of Pazin, for this 20th anniversary of the Night of Museums, are preparing expert, interactive, and entertaining activities for visitors, aiming to bring their work closer to a wider audience.
From 18:00 to 22:00, visitors will be able to view the permanent exhibits of both museums as well as the current exhibitions RANIERI MARIO COSSÀR, ethnographer. Reality Level: Between Creativity and Authenticity of Photographs from 1928 and Ma, we’ll take care of that at the Museum! New Acquisitions of the Museum of the City of Pazin 2014-2024. The program will begin with a Pop-up exhibition at the Museum of the City of Pazin, in which visitors can participate by bringing (and donating to the museum) objects they believe will contribute to the museum’s collection. These objects will then be displayed in the current exhibition, Ma, we’ll take care of that at the Museum! with the help of the museum curators. Afterward, ethnomusicologist and musician Dario Marušić will give a lecture titled The First Recording of Traditional Songs in Istria (1908, Buje, Brtonigla). From 20:00 onwards, fans of pub quizzes can test their knowledge on the everyday life and cultural-historical heritage of Pazin and the surrounding area in the quiz I See, I Don’t See… Pazin and Pazinština.
During the Night of Museums, photographs submitted to the photography competition Museums – Visible and (or) Invisible will be displayed. A prize ceremony for the selected photographs will take place during the pub quiz break, around 21:00. Entrance to the museums and all programs is free of charge.
