Museum's Documentation Collections

The museum collects, organizes, and manages secondary documentation, including audiovisual collections such as photo archives and negative books, video and audio archives, a media library, newspaper clippings, records of exhibitions, field research, special events, as well as the museum's educational and publishing activities. These collections bring together a wealth of diverse material thematically linked to Istria, as well as the work and history of the museum itself. Altogether, they contain more than 11 000 items, with the oldest dating back to the 1950s.

The documentation is stored in two locations: at the museum in Pazin and at the Center for Intangible Culture of Istria in Pićan. It is primarily used by museum professionals in their work but is also accessible to external users by prior arrangement and according to the EMI-MEI Service Price List.
