A Miner from the Labin region - The roots of Istrian coalmines date back to the 15th century during the rule of the Venetian Republic. At the beginning of the exploitation of Istria's mineral resources, Filippo Veranzi is mentioned, who in 1626 received a concession for mineral and resin mines in the Labin region. The year 1999 marked the end of the activities of Istrian coal miners. In that year, the last mine in Tupljak was closed.
