The Potter from Rakalj - Almost every household in Central and Southern Istria owned at least a few pots from Rakalj. Pot making was a business for whole families. Where necessary, everyone participated in the preparation, manufacture and sale of pots. The lack of quality arable land is one of the reasons why the people of Rakalj took up additional work - they were fishermen, mariners and potters. The knowledge of pottery was handed down from generation to generation, but also within the village community.
